What a great week!
We were delighted to host Great British Racing at Kremlin Cottage Stables earlier this week. We are running a joint campaign with GBR, aiming to raise awareness of racing in Britain and encouraging participation and race day attendance. Given the sport has received unjust negative press in recent weeks, it is important to raise awareness and educate those from outside the sport what a great sport racing is, and more importantly, how the real stars are cared for.
Racing welfare is a massive part of our sport and anyone who has visited a racing stable can see first hand how well the horses are cared for and how much love and attention they receive from staff, trainers and owners.
We were joined by several famous faces at James’ yard and it was thrilling to see how those within the group with no racing background were clearly taken in by the magnificence of our thoroughbred friends and how they are pampered and cared for on a daily basis.
We hope to see some of our new owners at the races next week and with GBR’s involvement we hope our campaign can not only gain exposure for Hasmonean Racing, but racing in general.
MARIAMNE
Our exciting filly has completed her last piece of proper work and is ready to roll. We hope she will have benefited from her recent racecourse gallop at Chelmsford, where she was put through her paces by our very own Menalippe.
She has progressed pleasingly in recent weeks and has shown to be professional and willing. Her stalls work has been smooth and we hope she can be competitive on debut. She will be given an enjoyable experience next week and will only improve for the run, but we are hopeful of a pleasing result.
MENALIPPE
Our beloved ‘Minnie’ is nearing the track once more with a trip to either the Norfolk or south coast next week. She will visit either Yarmouth on Tuesday or Brighton on Wednesday dependent on ground conditions and entries, with Brighton looking more likely at present.
She has done well since her seasonal debut at Newcastle and has been showing our younger horses the ropes, including a race course gallop at Chelmsford where she led Mariamne in comfortable fashion. She is entitled to have come on for her first run of the season and we are confident she will run well next week.
At this stage it is likely Ross Coakley may take the ride with Daniel Muscutt booked to ride elsewhere. Ross was at the gallop last week and he is likely to be seen more often in the saddle for James this season as an able deputy to Danny. Ross had already ridden 16 winners this year so we are more than happy to see him aboard Menalippe should this be the case.
We look forward to seeing some of Menalippe’s loyal owners next week and hopefully she can return to the winners enclose in the sunshine!
BREEZE UP PURCHASE
We are delighted to announce our new Farhh colt, who will be joining James Ferguson’s yard and Hasmonean Racing. Hasmonean Racing had a very busy day on Tuesday. Following our day with Great British Racing we were active at the Goffs Breeze Up sales at Doncaster. We are excited to announce the purchase of this exciting two year old, who will likely run around the middle/end of the season with a view to a progressive three year old campaign.
