Success Stories

Chartwell’s Lady

We are delighted to purchase this stunning daughter of Churchill at Tattersalls Book 3. Working closely alongside trainer James Ferguson and agent Mark Mcstay, we were all taken by this classy and athletic filly. We couldn’t believe our luck when the hammer went down for 29,000gns. A massive page update since the book was published was her 3/4 part sister Blue Rose Cen. Blue Rose Cen won the Group 1 Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac just two weeks ago by 5 LENGTHS! She is now favourite Breeders Cup in just two weeks and also for the Prix Diane next year. If she wins one of these it will add value to our filly!

Churchill, who is the only son of Galileo to win at Royal Ascot as a two-year-old has shot to the top table this year with his crop. 3 year old VADENI, winner of the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club and the Group 1 Coral Eclipse Stakes. Some other notable black type winners are;

Blue Rose Cen, a 5 length winner of the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac.

Ladies Church, Group 2  Sapphire stakes, now rated 111

The Foxes, 2 year old, winner of the Royal Lodge at Newmarket.

Queroyal, winner of the Group 3 German Derby Trial.

Churchill himself was voted champion two-year-old. As a two year old he won the Chesham Stakes, the Tyros Stakes, Futurity Stakes, National Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes. As a three year old he trained on and won both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas.

Her damsire is the quality Sea the Moon and further back in the pedigree is the one and only Sea The Stars. This filly is so well thought of that James Ferguson and the breeder have retained a share.

She is currently in full training with James Ferguson after having a 6 week break in April/May time. She is on track to make her debut in August/September time.

MARIAMNE

MARIAMNE

DANDY MAN X ILSERENO

Stunning Royal Ascot filly continues her story with Ben Brookhouse!

We are excited to announce the availability of shares in Mariamne, our stunning Dandy Man grey filly. She has had an excellent 2-year old campaign so far and in addition to winning on her second start, and placing second on 3 occasions, she has taken us to Royal Ascot, where she ran credibly in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes. We are delighted that Ben Brookhouse has decided to purchase 50% of the filly and we are thrilled to see how her career will develop with a change of scenery.

Ben is already plotting away with a plan for an autumn/winter campaign which will see her run within the next few weeks.

If you would like to get involved in a filly that is ready to win, and that will be running very soon then please get in contact.

Mariamne was a promising second on her most recent start, and given the winner has won again since, we are confident she’s not far from visiting the winners enclose once again.

Update 8th November.

Ben decided to give Mariamne an overground scope. She was found to have a slight problem with her wind and this was corrected on the 7th. It was a minor procedure and one that requires just 2 weeks rest. She won’t lose too much fitness in this time and we aim to have her back out on the track in mid December. The wind op will help her breathe properly during races and we would expect it to improve her performances significantly. She’s an exciting 5/6F filly going into 2024 and we would recommend her to anyone that wants some winter fun.

Update December 19th.

Mariamne made her stable debut at Newcastle on Saturday 16th December. It was her first run after a wind op and she will come on for the run. She still managed to finish a staying on 5th and should be bang there next time.

Impeachment

Impeachment (Showcasing x Lawless Secret) was bought at the Tattersalls Guineas breeze up sales, she was our first ever breeze up purchase and to date, she was our most expensive purchase at 33,000 guineas. For what she lacked in size, she made up for in determination and courage.

Impeachment made her debut at Lingfield over 5F, where she stayed on strongly to finish a close up third. The run certainly caught the eye of Racing Post, calling her the eye-catcher of the entire day. She again placed on her second and third start, proving that she was a filly with a lot of potential. The handicapper gave her a mark of 72 for the three runs, but we were determined to win the £20,000 GB Bonus for our owners.

On the 14th September we sent her to North Yorkshire and the stiff 5f at Beverley, it was a competitive open novice but she managed to get up in the last strides to win the bonus. After a couple more competitive runs in Nurseries, we accepted an offer for her. The offer was a very fair offer and it was more than we paid for her at the sales.

We wish her the best of luck.

Impeachment

Paid 33,000gns

Prize money £8,000 + £20,000 GB bonus.

Aristobulus

Aristobulus was sold at the Tattersalls sales. We bought Aristobulus at the December yearling sales in 2020. Admittedly we were checking out others in the parade ring when he strutted his stuff around the ring like he owned the place. However, you could not be anything but impressed with how he looked. We decided to pull him to the side to take a closer inspection and he passed that with flying colours. We were thrilled to be the highest bidder at just 11,000gns. From the moment we set eyes on the son of Adaay, we knew he would be great value for money.

Aristobulus was broken in under the watchful eye of James Ferguson, he wintered well, trained well and behaved impeccably. It was no surprise to see him just get up on debut at Chelmsford to the delight of his owners! On handicap debut he romped home at Nottingham by 3 and 3/4 lengths and was raised 11 pounds by the handicapper.

He signed off the season in great style with an impressive 3rd in a hot Goodwood handicap on heavy ground.

His three runs back as a three year old have proved that he has trained on. A running on second at Nottingham on Good to Firm ground. Then a highly unlucky 4th at Haydock.

Although we sold Aristobulus with a very heavy heart, we were delighted that the colt made 45,000gns. He sold for 4 x times his purchase cost and he also won £12,000 in prize money. A great return for his owners!!

Menalippe

She is very hardy, running 11 times as a two year old, winning twice and finishing in the top 4 a further 4 times. James Ferguson and the stable staff report that she is happier when active. Her full brother BERKSHIRE PHOENIX is a 4 year old, but as a 2 year old he ran for Andrew Balding. He had a similar profile as Menalippe by starting out over 5f before being tried and improving for the step up in distance. Berkshire Phoenix was sold as a 3 year old to new connections in Italy, interestingly this year Berkshire Phoenix has placed in both a listed race and a GROUP 2, over HURDLES! This gives us plenty food for thought with Menalippe. Scarlet Wings sire was Sir Percy, as we all know, Sir Percy won the Derby. The dam Wendylina has produced a Group 3 winning hurdler called DUTY.

As a 3 year old Menalippe has run four times, with her best effort to date a strong finishing 2nd over 7F at Brighton.

Menalippe was recently sold at the Tattersalls July Sale.
