Luan

LUAN (Sea The Stars x Lamorlaye)

Don’t miss this chance to get involved with a serious pedigree! Luan is a big, rangy and imposing son of Sea The Stars, purchased by us in the Tattersalls May sale. We feel like this horse is great value for what should give you a lot of fun on the racetrack. On debut over 1 mile, he was drawn wide, still green and was learning on the job. On the 28th August he took a massive step forward at Chelmsford, breaking well before being settled at the back of the field. Jonny Peate was one of the last off the bridle from a uncompromising position and Luan stayed on nicely to make up ground in the business end of the race.

Racing IQ data from the race reads that Luan reached

0-20MPH – 2nd fastest of 12.

His stride length was 3rd of 12 ( this is a massive positive considering he will be much improved over middle distances).

Finishing speed 4th fastest 105.45% (again a positive that he has this finishing speed over a trip shorter than ideal).

Also showing the 3rd highest top speed clocking 39.34mph.

Luan is a horse that we have started over a mile to teach him how to race at a faster pace and to increase his race craft. He will be much more at home once he is stepped up in trip and we feel he will be a really progressive horse.

Siblings include:

Wasmya (Toronado), rated 101 and winner of a listed race.

Talbah (Style Vendome), winner on debut and placed 3rd in a Group 3 from just four runs.

Wahdan (Siyouni), placed 3rd in a Group 2.

This colt once cost 280,000 as a yearling and comes recommended to us by Juddmonte. Before the sale he was in full training at their farm in Ireland. They feel that as he is a big and powerful horse, he needs gelding which will help bring him into a nice racing weight. He has a lovely walk, a great presence about him and a loving temperament. Our bloodstock agent Billy Jackson-Stops was very keen on him and utilised his contacts to find out everything about him.

We feel like he is the perfect horse for James Ferguson. James excels with these staying types and has previously trained other Sea The Stars progeny such as Wonder Legend, Kildare Legend and Deauville Legend.

The purchase price includes the purchase of the horse, vetting/scope at the sales, bloodstock agent commission, the required gelding operation and the training fees until October 1st.

If you would like anymore information on the purchase, please feel free to give me a call on 07930956867.

Impierious

We are delighted to offer shares in this striking son of first season sire PALACE PIER. This colt was purchased out of TATTERSALLS Book one so is eligible for the £25,000 Book one bonus should he win a maiden next year.

Palace Pier has all the attributes to be a champion stallion. He was a world champion miler who beat Pinatubo in the G1 St James’s Palace in his Stakes debut at three. Five G1 wins in all, ran Baaeed to a neck conceding weight, and rated Kingman’s peerless best. The first back-to-back hero of the Marois in decades, clocking a faster winning time than Kingman, Dubawi, and golden greats Miesque and Dubai Millennium.

The Dam SUNSEMPERCHI is by Montjeu who is a excellent damsire despite not always been sent to the top stallions. She has a excellent record as a dam producing 8 winners from 8 runners, 4 of which have won stakes races. The Kingman x Montjeu bloodlines are proven. With Palace Pier being by Kingman, this makes our colt a 3/4 part brother to the 110 rated MASHHOOR.

The plan

He is in full training with Tom Clover in Newmarket. Tom has had a superb year operating at 16% strike rate and has excelled with his two year olds. Tom was particularly keen on this colt and our Bloodstock agent Billy Jackson-Stops highly recommends him.

We see him as the perfect horse to target a Juddemonte supported restricted band A maiden that offers additional prize money of £30,000. With his additional book one bonus he could potentially win £40,000 for winning a maiden.

He is our first purchase from Book one as we strive to improve the quality at Hasmonean Racing and try to bring regular stakes races to our owners.

July 18th

Impierious is now doing upsize work on the Newmarket gallops and working towards making his debut with in the next couple of months. We are very happy with him and how Palace Pier has started with his first crop!

Rose Cotton

Every once in a while, a horse comes along who reminds you that good things take time—and Rose Cotton is exactly that. A stunning daughter of New Bay, she was purchased by us at Hasmonean Racing for 39,000 guineas from the Tattersalls Horses-In-Training May Sale as an unbroken two-year-old. Sent to the capable hands of Tom Clover, Rose Cotton arrived with potential written all over her, but also the clear need for time, strength, and plenty of conditioning to unlock what lay beneath the surface.

From the outset, it was obvious she would be no early two-year-old, Rose Cotton required a patient approach. She underwent a careful and deliberate programme of conditioning work—filling out physically, learning the ropes, and developing her confidence.

Rose Cotton made her racecourse debut in a fiercely competitive  £50,000 Class 2 maiden at Goodwood. Up against race fit fillies, she ran a blinder to finish a fast-finishing sixth, doing her best work late and clearly relishing the experience. It was a run full of promise—raw but exciting—and marked her as a filly to watch as the season progresses.

With her next start scheduled for July 28th at Windsor, anticipation is building. As she continues to grow into her frame and gain race experience, there’s every expectation she’ll build on that promising debut. Rose Cotton is a slow-burn talent—beautiful, well-bred, and now beginning to blossom. One for the tracker, and one we’re genuinely excited about.

Gordon Grey

Gordon Grey has become something of a fairytale for us at Hasmonean Racing and trainer Ben Brookhouse. A striking, white-grey gelding by the world-class sire Australia, he has blossomed into one of the most exciting improvers in our colours. When purchased as a three-year-old for 18,000 guineas from the Tattersalls October Sale, Gordon Grey arrived rated 69 and winless after several efforts for his previous yard. But since changing hands, he has done nothing but climb—both in performance and prestige.

Now a five-time winner across turf, all-weather, and even over hurdles, Gordon Grey has proven himself as one of the most versatile and progressive handicappers in training. Whether it’s grinding out a gutsy win at Chelmsford or bolting clear to score by 11 lengths in the Ladies Amateur Derby at Epsom, his form continues to sparkle. That stunning Epsom victory not only marked his fifth career success but also a repeat win in that very race, highlighting his affection for the Surrey Downs and his consistency at a competitive level.

His trajectory is nothing short of meteoric. From a modest starting point, Gordon Grey is now on the verge of being reassessed in the late 80s in the official ratings—an extraordinary leap in just over 12 months. What makes it even more impressive is that his progression has come not just in results, but in how he wins: travelling smoothly, quickening decisively, and always finding more under pressure. He’s not just improving—he’s thriving.

It’s no exaggeration to say Gordon Grey has now living up to our expectations. He’s a living example of how time, patience, and the right setup can unlock true potential. As a son of Australia, he has the bloodlines to go far—and now, finally, the results to match. With further improvement likely, and his confidence soaring, who knows how many more wins Gordon can share with us, potentially starting at Newbury next week under a penalty.

Bay Of Dreams

Bay of Dreams, a pretty and petite filly by New Bay, first caught our eye at Tattersalls, where she fetched 25,000 guineas as a yearling. With her sleek bay coat and elegant build, she held clear pedigree appeal, but like many talented youngsters, she needed time to mature. Her debut run saw her place at Leicester in July 24, but she then needed a break to get fully to terms with racing life   .

Once she landed her first handicap mark early this year, everything changed. At Newcastle on March 10, Bay of Dreams broke her maiden tag in a mile handicap off a mark of 55, showing a smooth turn of foot and plenty of resolve. That success sparked a career reboot, and she hasn’t looked back.

She’s now notched two wins for Hasmonean Racing, along with several promising placings, pushing her official rating from 55 to 69—with further upgrade likely as she continues to strengthen. Timeform confirms she “is a smooth travelling and versatile filly” , while her Racing Post stats show consistent progression and tactical maturity  .

What makes Bay of Dreams special is the classic blend of pedigree, prettiness, and grit. She’s a lovely daughter of New Bay, built for speed and stamina, and she’s evolving race by race. With the promise of even more improvement to come, this is one filly destined to keep her owners in and around the winners enclosure for the rest of the year.

Billiegee

Billiegee has always had something about her. A daughter of Waldgeist, she was purchased as a yearling for a modest fee, but she’s gone on to write a remarkable story of progress, promise, and perseverance. From her very first run, it was clear we had a filly with real talent—making a late charge from the back of the field at Kempton as a two-year-old, she flew home over seven furlongs and was only just denied in the final strides. It was an eye-catching debut and a sign of things to come.

She wasted no time confirming that promise. On her second start, stepped up to a mile at Wolverhampton, she struck gold—becoming the first ever winning daughter of Waldgeist. That moment of history gave her connections immense pride and set the tone for what would be a fruitful three-year-old campaign. She added two more wins to her CV, first at Doncaster, and then again at Newbury, showing a great attitude and adaptability with each run.

Now a four-year-old, Billiegee made a pleasing seasonal reappearance, finishing second on her return. However, her momentum was temporarily halted due to a sinus issue, which has since been fully resolved. She’s now back in training and steadily building back toward race fitness. Despite the setback, her attitude and constitution remain strong—true to the tough nature she’s shown throughout her career.

Currently rated in the high 70s, there’s a strong belief among her team that Billiegee has more to give. Her best performances suggest she’s not yet reached her ceiling, and with her health issues behind her, the second half of the season offers real opportunity. With her proven track record, sharp turn of foot, and admirable consistency, Billiegee remains one to be excited about—and one to follow closely in the months ahead.
