Luan

LUAN – 4yo Gelding | Sea The Stars | Trained by Nick Scholfield, Lambourn

Luan is a big, strapping and highly progressive four-year-old gelding by the outstanding Sea The Stars, who is enjoying an excellent season and has now won three races this campaign.
Having already won over 1m2f at Newcastle and 1m4f at Wolverhampton, Luan produced a career-best performance back at Wolverhampton on Friday, travelling strongly before taking up the running over two furlongs from home and powering clear to win by three lengths under Billy Loughnane. It was an impressive performance and another significant step forward in his progression.
Importantly, he came out of the race in excellent order and, following that performance, we now have a new plan!
The plan now is to step Luan up to two miles, a trip we feel could bring about further improvement given the way he travels and stays through his races. We will look to run him in one of the London Stayers Series qualifiers, with the aim of qualifying him for the London Stayers Final at Kempton in December.
The longer-term plan remains equally exciting. Luan has the size, scope, pedigree and stamina to potentially develop into a very interesting dual-purpose horse, and we still intend to introduce him to schooling with a view to going over hurdles in the future if need be.
A beautifully bred son of Sea The Stars, now a three-time winner and still progressing, Luan looks an exciting horse to be involved with as we head into the winter.
Shares are now available in Luan for anyone looking to join Hasmonean Racing and get involved with a progressive staying prospect with both Flat and potential National Hunt options ahead of him.
