Hasmoneans at Royal Ascot.

Hasmonean Racing are delighted to announce the scheduled appearance of Mariamne at Royal Ascot next week. Our grey Dandy Man filly will contest either the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes, or the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes on Wednesday. Both races are over 5F with the Queen Mary restricted to fillies only.

Mariamne has been somewhat of a surprise since her early days in the yard. Whilst she was doing everything asked of her at home, she wasn’t necessarily setting the gallops on fire. As race day approached, the vibes had changed, and she improved significantly during the last couple of months prior to her racecourse debut at Brighton.

As our fellow Hasmoneans will know, more was expected of her on debut and when she trailed in last of 6, we couldn’t help but be a little despondent.

However, James had assured us that there was much more to look forward to and insisted her debut would be quickly forgotten. Memories cast back to Menalippe’s equally poor show at Windsor on debut, and we all know the improvement she showed throughout her 2-year old campaign, winning twice and placing on multiple occasions.

It wasn’t long before Mariamne had the opportunity to show what she was really capable of, and our faith was rewarded handsomely when she won well from the front on her second start at Wolverhampton. She has since followed up with an impressive second place at Lingfield on the turf, proving she can handle both surfaces. She was behind a well regarded Amo filly that day, and given the rate of improvement she has shown in recent months, we believe she is worth her chance at Royal Ascot.

There are only so many opportunities a horse will have to take part in the worlds most prestigious race meeting, and given our filly is in rude health, there looks set to be a Hasmonean invasion upon Royal Ascot next week.

Look out for us in the car park and on course, once again drinking champagne at the races, a habit Hasmoneans are becoming quite accustomed to.

We look forward to seeing many of you at Royal Ascot next week, and to those not involved, please come and say hello and share a glass. We have limited shares available in an exciting Farhh colt, who could well be at the Royal meeting next year.
